Fall Fest doesn't begin by narrowing things down.

It begins by opening things up.

For three days, every accepted Fall Fest 26 film gets its place in The Weekly Cinematic Spotlight including films that will later appear within our official category selections.

This is your opportunity to browse without worrying about categories, rankings, or awards. Pick something because the poster caught your attention. Try a filmmaker you've never heard of. Watch a genre you normally wouldn't.

For our filmmakers, this is your opening celebration.

Every accepted film deserves its moment.

 WEDNESDAY • NOVEMBER 4

  THE SPOTLIGHT OPENS

Welcome to Fall Fest 26!

We're starting with the reason we're all here:

The complete accepted Fall Fest 26 lineup opens for viewing.

Spend the day exploring new stories, meeting new filmmakers through their work, building your personal watchlist, and finding those unexpected indie gems that make festivals fun.

There's no category you have to start with.

 THURSDAY • NOVEMBER 5

 AUDIENCE CHOICE VOTING OPENS

Found Something You Loved? Show It Some Love.

Audience Choice isn't about turning Fall Fest into a popularity contest.

It's another way to tell an independent filmmaker:

“Hey, your film connected with me.”

Starting today, viewers can support their favorite Fall Fest discoveries through our Audience Choice voting system.

A $2 Audience Voting Pass lets you support up to 10 different eligible films during the qualifying portion of the festival, with one vote available per eligible film.

You don't need to use all 10. You don't need to know anybody involved.

Just watch, discover, and support the work that genuinely stands out to you.

Cast, crew, filmmakers, producers, and others directly involved with a production cannot vote for their own film—but they're absolutely encouraged to watch and support their fellow indie filmmakers.

Support your peers. Discover somebody new. Keep it fair.

Spam voting, automated voting, duplicate-account manipulation, and artificial voting activity aren't part of what we're building here and are prohibited.

The Luxe Room is the community side of the festival.

Before our individual festival spotlights begin, we're giving everybody another day to explore.

Maybe somebody in The Luxe Room recommended a short you'd never considered.

Today's the day to try it.

Tomorrow, Fall Fest's official category celebration begins—but the films you've already discovered aren't going anywhere.

DAY 1 — THE NEXT GENERATION

Everybody Starts Somewhere. Let's Celebrate Where They're Going.

Our first official Fall Fest day belongs to filmmakers building the future of independent storytelling.

Student filmmakers bring experimentation, ambition, fresh perspectives, and sometimes wonderfully unconventional ideas to filmmaking.

Today gives those developing voices their own spotlight.

🌟 BEST YOUTH-LED FILM

Young creators aren't waiting for permission to start telling stories.

This separate showcase celebrates productions substantially led by young filmmakers and gives emerging creators an opportunity to see their work presented alongside a wider international indie-film community.

Today isn't about asking who has the biggest résumé.

It's about celebrating who's brave enough to start creating one.

DAY 2 — STORIES WITHOUT BORDERS

Today we're celebrating both the global reach of independent filmmaking and the people who bring those stories to life.

DAY 3 — IMAGINATION & REALITY

Today we're putting two very different forms of storytelling side by side.

 BEST ANIMATED SHORT

Independent animators can create worlds that would be impossible to build in front of a traditional camera.

From hand-drawn and digital animation to experimental approaches and distinctive visual styles, today celebrates imagination one frame at a time.

 BEST DOCUMENTARY

On the other side of storytelling is reality.

Our documentary selections celebrate filmmakers who turn their cameras toward real people, communities, experiences, cultures, questions, and ideas.

DAY 4 — SHORT FILM TAKEOVER

THE TOP 30 SHORTS

We received the message loud and clear during WinterFest 26:

There are too many great indie shorts to squeeze into a Top 20.

So we're making more room.

Fall Fest expands Best Short Film to a Top 30, giving an even larger group of short filmmakers an opportunity to receive a dedicated festival spotlight.

Comedy. Drama. Horror. Experimental work. Something we don't quite know how to describe yet.

That's part of the fun.

Today belongs to the short film.

30 films. 30 opportunities to discover something new.

 NOVEMBER 11

DAY 5 — FEATURE FILM DAY

THE TOP 15 FEATURES

Today we're slowing things down and giving longer stories room to breathe.

Fall Fest's Top 15 Feature Films receive a dedicated showcase designed around the additional time and commitment these projects ask from audiences.

We're also making our definition of an indie feature more welcoming.

New 45-Minute Minimum

For Fall Fest 26, we've reduced the feature-film minimum from 60 minutes to 45 minutes.

Independent films don't always fit neatly into theatrical conventions—and we don't think an ambitious 50-minute story should automatically be overlooked simply because it doesn't reach an arbitrary hour.

More flexibility means more filmmakers have an opportunity to be recognized for substantial long-form storytelling.

Grab something to eat.

Get comfortable.

Pick a feature.

NOVEMBER 12

DAY 6 — ONE MORE SPOTLIGHT

The Audience Choice Top 20 Journey Continues

Today's the final qualifying day for our festival-wide Audience Choice Top 20.

And here's something important:

​

Every eligible accepted Fall Fest film has had an opportunity to be part of it.

Being selected for another category doesn't remove a film from Audience Choice.

A Student Film can make it.

A Documentary can make it.

An International Film can make it.

A Top 30 Short can make it.

A Feature can make it.

And an accepted film that didn't receive one of those category recognitions can still find an audience that says:

“We want more people to see this.”

DAY 7 — THE GRAND FESTIVAL SHOWCASE

One More Look at What Fall Fest 26 Has Created Together

Today's about bringing the festival back together.

Your CLuxe access keeps the eligible festival collection available throughout Fall Fest, so category days determine what we're celebrating—not what you're allowed to watch.

DAY 8 — MEET THE AUDIENCE CHOICE TOP 20

20 Films the Audience Wants You to See.

Today we reveal the Fall Fest 26 Audience Choice Top 20.

These films aren't presented as the only great films at Fall Fest.

Far from it.

They're 20 films that generated a special connection with viewers during this year's festival—and now we're giving everybody another reason to discover them.

Final voting also begins fresh.

Qualifying votes helped determine which films reached this special showcase.

Now every Audience Choice Top 20 film starts the final voting round at zero, giving audiences a fresh opportunity to watch the finalists together before choosing their favorites.

Don't just vote for the film you already know.

DAY 9 — GLOBAL AUDIENCE DAY

The Final Audience Voting Day

Haven't finished your watchlist?

You've still got time.

November 16 is the final opportunity to explore the Audience Choice Top 20, revisit films, participate in our special audience honors, and cast any remaining eligible votes.

A countdown on the Fall Fest website will show exactly when voting closes.

When the countdown reaches zero, voting ends and we'll prepare to celebrate the films and filmmakers receiving this year's honors.

But before you make that final choice:

Watch one more film.

You might find your favorite on the last day.

DAY 11 — FALL FEST CELEBRATION DAY

Today we celebrate the filmmakers and films receiving official Fall Fest 26 recognition.

Category honors, special achievements, Audience Choice recognition, and other Cinematic Luxe selections will be announced throughout our closing celebration.

And then:

Our recognized films return to the featured screening lineup for one final public showcase.
